Network Design Workshop
8:30 am - 12:30 pm
March 29, 2008
(Due to numerous request, the workshop will be held during the conference on Saturday morning from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. There will also be parallel sessions scheduled at the same time.)
This workshop is aimed towards graduate students, young researchers, and practitioners to expose them to tools, techniques, and recent trends in solving challenging network design problems that arise in telecommunications. The workshop has four distinguished speakers, each of whom will present a one hour lecture on various methodologies that have been successfully used to solve challenging network design problems that arise in telecommunications. The methodologies discussed range from meta-heuristics, approximation algorithms, exact algorithms, and integer programming formulations.
Speakers:
Luis Gouveia
(University of Lisbon)
Several Views on Reformulation by Discretization
Arie Koster (Warwick University)
Polyhedral Combinatorics to Solve Network Design Problems
Mauricio Resende (AT&T Labs)
Metaheuristics in Network Design
Aravind Srinivasan (University of Maryland)
Network Design and Optimization in Wireless Networking
Registration: Workshop registration is included with the 9th INFORMS Telecommunications Conference Registration.
